BANGKOK, Thailand (July 20) - Kazakhstan, Iran and India Greco-Roman wrestlers shared seven gold medals on the opening day of the Cadet Asian Championships in the Bangkok Youth Center of Thailand.

The first gold medal of the championships went to Indian wrestler Arshad ARSHAD who defeated Yerassyl MAMYRBEKOV (KAZ) in the final match of 42kg.

At 46kg, Kazakhstan achieved its first gold medal as Yerkebulan ARDAKOV beat Korean Seong Cheol YANG in the final.

Mohammad HOSSEINVAND gave the first gold to the Iran team, defeating Baiel SATYEU from Kyrgizstan 5-0 in the final match of 54kg.

Iran and Kazakhstan wrestles met in final at 63kg as Rakhat SAGYMBAY captured the second gold for Kazakhstan, winning the bout against Mostafa KAYED KHORDEH (IRI), 8-1.

The match between Iran and Kazakhstan repeated again this time at 76kg final as Daulet ZHALGASSOV (KAZ) downed Mehran SAADATIFARD (IRI) narrowly, 2-2. So the Kazakh wrestlers gained their third gold medal on the opening day of the Cadet Asian Championships.

The 85kg match was held between Mohit MOHIT (IND) and Mohammad NOSRATI (IRI). The Indian wrestler MOHIT took the second gold for his country by 2-1 victory against Iranian NOSRATI.

The last gold medal of day one was achieved by Iranian Seyed Mojtaba HOSSEINI, who defeated Mustafa GASANOV (KGZ), 2-1 in a tough challenge.

Iran leads in the team standings after the first day with two gold medals, three silvers and one bronze, achieving 59 points. Kazakhstan gained three golds and one silver to score 51 points. Kyrgyzstan also scored 51 points, and took two silvers and two bronzes.

Despite winning two golds and three bronze medals, India collected 45 points on day one of the Greco-Roman Cadet Asian Championships. 

The competitions continue tomorrow in weight categories 50, 58 and 69kg in Greco-Roman and 38,43,49,56 and 65kg in women's wrestling.
