The Polish Wrestling Federation has informed United World Wrestling that their president Mr. Grzegorz Pieronkiewicz has passed away. The 41-year-old was a former Greco-Roman wrestler who enjoyed an excellent reputation with coaches and athletes. Pieronkiewicz was aslo a member of the Polish Olympic Committee, President of the Sports Club "MKZ Unia Racibórz" and member of the Board of the Polish Wrestling Federation 

Polish Wrestling Federation Secretary General Andrzej Głaz wrote, "Pieronkiewicz's openness, authority and dedication gained in winning the trust and commitment of the entire Polish wrestling community. His sudden death is a huge bereavement for all of us."

United World Wrestling extends its condolences to the Polish wrestling community and to the friends and family of Mr. Pieronkiewicz.
