Amirli maintient son titre, Zare prend le dessus sur le champion en titre Kerkvliet

ZAGREB, Croatie – Au deuxième soir du champion du monde cadets, cinq champions ont été couronnés en lutte libre. Alihasan AMIRLI (AZE) renouvelle son titre mondial.

Amirli garde sa médaille d'or par une victoire 6-1 en finale des 48kg face à Richard FIGUEROA (USA). Couchant Figueroa sur le dos par une projection au sol de grande amplitude en deuxième période, Amirli a pris la tête jusqu'à la cloche et l'obtention de sa deuxième médaille d'or mondial consécutive.

L'Azerbaïdjan s'est offert un autre champion du monde un peu plus tard lorsque Turan BAYRAMOV, médaillé d'argent l'année dernière, a cette fois rejoint le sommet du podium des 65kg face à Inalbek SHERIEV (RUS).

Le champion d'Asie 2018 cadets Amir ZARE (IRI) a provoqué la surprise en se défaisant du champion du monde cadets 2017 Daniel KERKVLIET (USA) en finale des 110kg. La combination de trois sorties de tapis et deux amenés au sol ont donné l'avantage à Zare 7-4, avec son premier titre mondial des cadets.

Le médaillé de bronze d'Asie 2017 cadets Jamshidbek MARUFOV (UZB) s'est emparé de la couronne des 55kg, tenant à distance le champion d'Asie de cette année Hayato FUJITA (JPN) par une victoire 4-3. Marufov menait 4-0 à la moitié de la deuxième période. Si Fujita a bien réussi à pousser son adversaire hors du tapis en fin de combat, cela ne suffit pas à empêcher l'Ouzbek de se parer de l'or mondial.

En 80kg, Dmitrii ELKANOV (RUS) était mené 6-2 en fin de combat par le champion d'Asie cadet 2018 Mohammedreza GHIYASI (IRI). Á tout juste quatre seconde de la fin, Elkanov projette son adversaire au sol par une prise de souplesse arrière et prend la tête sur critères. Le banc iranien a demandé un challenge, sans effet, et Elkanov a pu emporter le titre mondial par une victoire 7-6.

L'Iran et la Turquie ont chacune deux lutteurs en finales des autres catégories de poids.

Jeux Pan Am : Rey et Burroughs remportent l'or

TORONTO, Canada (18 juillet) – Le champion en titre Jordan BURROUGHS (USA) a encore une fois remporté les Jeux Pan American samedi. Les Etats-Unis ont remporté trois médailles d’or et une médaille d’argent lors du dernier jour de compétition des Jeux 2015 de Toronto.

Le champion mondial et olympique Burroughs a facilement remporté trois victoires par supériorité technique, notamment 13-1 face à Livan LOPEZ (CUB) en quarts de finale, et a remporté sa seconde médaille d’or des Jeux Pan Am. Il avait déjà gagné à Guadalajara en 2011.

En finale à 74 kg, Burroughs a affronté le champion des Jeux d’Amérique du Sud Yoan BLANCO (ECU), qu’il a battu avec une série de force-outs en première période.

Lopez, médaillé d’or à 66 kg à Guadalajara, a remporté le bronze après sa défaite face à Burroughs.

Le triple vainqueur des Championnats Pan Am Zach REY (USA) a remporté ses premiers Jeux Pan Am. C’est son deuxième titre continental cette année. Il a battu Korey JARVIS (CAN) 3-0 en finale à 125 kg.

L’ancien champion du monde junior Kyle SNYDER (USA) a gagné 10-0 par supériorité technique face à Arjun GILL (CAN) en finale à 97 kg. C’est son premier titre senior majeur. 

In the 74kg final, Burroughs softened up South American Games champion Yoan BLANCO (ECU) with a series of force-outs in the first period, then wrapped up the technical fall with a single-leg attack and a pair of cross-ankle turns.

Lopez, the gold medalist at 66kg in Guadalajara, rebounded for a bronze medal after his loss to Burroughs.

Meanwhile, three-time Pan American championships winner Zach REY (USA) won his first Pan American Games crown to double up on the continental titles this year. Rey defeated Korey JARVIS (CAN), 3-0, in the 125kg final.

Former junior world champ Kyle SNYDER (USA) made a big splash with his third technical fall of the day, 10-0, over Arjun GILL (CAN) in the 97kg final for his first major senior title.

Jake HERBERT (USA), the Games’ defending middleweight champion, came out on the short end of a wide-open final at 86kg, falling 12-7 to world silver medalist Reineris SALAS (CUB) and his wicked double-leg attack.

With three gold medals on the final day of wrestling, the United States completed the freestyle competition with four of the six gold medals on offer along with a pair of silver medals for 58 points.

Cuba, meanwhile, grabbed the other two gold medals as well as a silver and two more bronze medals, to finish second in freestyle with 49 points. Canada was even more distant in third place with 40 points.

Avec trois médailles d’or remportées lors du dernier jour de compétition, les Etats Unis terminent la compétition de lutte libre avec quatre des six médailles d’or disponibles, ainsi que deux médailles d’argent pour un total de 58 points.

Cuba a remporté les deux autres médailles d’or, une médaille d’argent et deux médailles de bronze et termine second avec 49 points. Le Canada est loin derrière avec 40 points.
