The most outstanding performances of 2017 came from Yasemin ADAR (TUR), Helen MAROULIS (USA) and Hassan Aliazam YAZDANICHARATI (IRI).

58kg WW: Helen Maroulis -  World Champion
In one of the most dominant performances in recent memory, Helen Maroulis proved doubters wrong and showed that she had the ability to compete at 58kg. Already a 2015 world champion and 2016 Olympic gold medalist, Maroulis had her sights on gold in Paris. She outscored her opponents 52-0, including a controlling 11-0 technical superiority victory in the 58kg finals over Olympic bronze medal winner Marwa AMRI (TUN). 

75kg WW: Yasemin ADAR (TUR) - World Champion
Adar began her championship run without surrendering a point before the quarterfinals. Heading into the semifinals Adar had only conceded a single point. Her 8-5 semifinal victory over Epp MAE (EST) guaranteed her at least second place which was higher than her previous four world championships. Down with 30 seconds remaining, Adar picked up a late takedown giving her the 5-4 lead and eventually the world gold medal.

86kg FS: Hassan Aliazam YAZDANICHARATI (IRI) - World Champion
Yazdanicharati kicked off the 2017 World Championships with three straight technical superiority victories, outscoring those opponents 32-2. In the semifinals Yazdanicharati defeated Vladislav VALIEV (RUS) 4-0 to make his first world finals appearance since 2015 when he took home a silver medal. In the gold medal match, the Iranian superstar shut out Boris MAKOEV (SVK) 10-0 to win his first world championship.
