Grand Prix Zagreb Open Ten GR Finals Set

ZAGREB, Croatia (January 30) -- The finals pair at the two-day Grand Prix Zagreb Open are set. The all-Greco-Roman tournament held the qualification and repechage rounds Saturday in all 10 weight categories.

Turkey and Ukraine dominated the day with six and five finalists respectively. Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Parviz NASIBOV (UKR) managed to reach the final with ease at 72kg and he will face Abdullah TOPRAK (TUR) Sunday. 

The final will begin at 1800 hours local time and can be watched at uww.org.

UWW Academy launches new course on Takedown and Control

CORSIER-SUR-VEVEY, Switzerland (December 18) -- United World Wrestling has launched a new course for Takedown and Control that will replace the existing one. The course demonstrates various takedowns and controls that occur in wrestling.

The course will follow a similar format to the other rules courses under Programs for Referees. This course covers the specifics of what determines a takedown and control. There are video examples of several situations along with explanations for how each was scored. The participants will also have an opportunity to practice 10 situations before taking a quiz over the course.
