12:38: Aniuar GEDUEV (RUS) advanced to the gold-medal match at 74kg by edging Jabrayil HASANOV (AZE) 5-4 in the semifinals. Hassanov jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two first-period takedowns. In the second period Geduev used a four-point move to get back in the match. The call was challenged and upheld, giving the Russian an additional point, and the match would end 5-4.

12:26: Hassan YAZDANICHARATI (IRI), a silver medalist last year at 70kg, continued his dominance in Rio, picking up a 10-0 technical fall over Galymzhan USSERBAYEV (KAZ) in the semifinals at 74kg. 

12:16: World champion Vladimer KHINCHEGASHVILI (GEO) topped two-time world medalist Vladimir Vladimirov DUBOV (BUL) 8-4. With the score 4-4 in the final 30 seconds, Khinchegashvili used a four-point move to go up 8-4, which is how the match would end. He will now meet world No.10 Rei HIGUCHI (JPN) who defeated world champion Hassan RAHIMI (IRI) 10-5. 

12:03: Hassan Aliazam YAZDANICHARATI (IRI) claimed a 7-0 shutout victory over Soner DEMIRTAS (TUR) at 74kg. He will now face Galymzhan USSERBAYEV (KAZ), who defeated Sohsuke TAKATANI (JPN).

11:52: Aniuar GEDUEV (RUS) edged Olympic champion and three-time world champion Jordan BURROUGHS (USA) 3-2 in a rematch of last year's Worlds semifinals match at 74kg. Geduev scored first off the shot clock to go up 1-0 and took that lead into the second period. He added two step out points to go up 3-0. Burroughs would score a late takedown, but come up short. Geduev will now face Jabrayil HASANOV (AZE), who earned a technical fall in 48 seconds.

11:35: Rei HIGUCHI (JPN) rolled into the semifinals at 57kg with an 8-4 win over Yowlys BONNE RODRIGUEZ (CUB). A takedown and exposure put Higuchi up 4-0. Bonne Rodriguez was able to get back in the match after a four-point move, but it was all Higuchi the rest of the way. 

11:34: Hassan RAHIMI (IRI) proved to be too much for Victor LEBEDEV (RUS) at 57kg in a battle of world champions. The Iranian won 6-1.

11:22: World champion Vladimer KHINCHEGASHVILI (GEO) edged two-time world champ Haji ALIYEV (AZE) 5-3 to move into the semifinals at 57kg. Aliyev held a 1-0 lead after the opening period, but the Georgian came back with two takedowns in the second period to pull out the victory. 

11:14: Vladimir Vladimirov DUBOV (BUL) earned a first-period fall over Ivan GUIDEA (ROU) in the quarterfinals at 57kg. Dubov, a two-time world medalist, was up 10-0 at the time of the fall.

11:10: Galymzhan USSERBAYEV (KAZ) hung on to defeat Olympic bronze medalist Livan LOPEZ AZCUY (CUB) 8-7 at 74kg. Lopez led 3-0 in the second period before Usserbayev turned it up and scored eight points in the final two minutes. 

11:02: World No.4 Hassan YAZDANICHARATI (IRI), a world silver medalist last year at 70kg, won by technical fall in just over a minute against Asnage CASTELLY (HAI) in the round of 16 at 74kg. 

10:58: European champion Soner DEMIRTAS (TUR) edged returning world silver medalist Unurbat PUREVJAV (MGL) 4-2 in the round of 16 at 74kg.

10:49: In a battle of world medalists, Aniuar GEDUEV (RUS) picked up a 10-5 victory over Bekzod ABDURAKHMONOV (UZB) at 74kg. Guduev now meets Burroughs (USA) in a rematch of last year's Worlds semifinal match at 74kg.

10:46: Returning Olympic champion Jordan BURROUGHS (USA) moved into the quarterfinals with an 8-3 win over Augusto MIDANA (GBS). He used a takedown and lace to go up 4-0 early, and led 8-2 at the break. Midana scored the only point in the second period. 

10:37: Hassan RAHIMI (IRI), a 2013 world champion, made quick work of Garnik MNATSAKANYAN (ARM), earning an 11-0 technical fall at 1:29.  

10:33: Haji ALIYEV (AZE), a two-time world champ who is ranked No.1 at 61kg, scored early and often in a 12-2 technical fall over YUN Junsik (KOR) at 57kg. 

10:30: Two-time world champion Victor LEBEDEV (RUS) topped Sandeep TOMAR (IND) 7-3 in his opening match at 57kg. 

10:21: World champion Vladimer KHINCHEGASHVILI (GEO) was pushed in his first match, but hung on to beat Nurislam SANAYEV (KAZ) 3-2. 

10:20: Two-time world medalist Vladimir Vladimirov DUBOV (BUL) picked up an early technical fall over Daniel DENNIS (USA) 10-0. Dubov scored with an early double leg takedown and then used four gut wrenches to finish off the American. 

10:14: Adama DIATTA (SEN) scored a late takedown to knock off returning world bronze medalist Bekhbayar ERDENEBAT (MGL) 3-3 on criteria at 57kg. 

10:05: World No.10 Rei HIGUCHI (JPN) rolled to a 12-2 technical fall over two-time world champion YANG Kyong Il (PRK). The match was tied 2-2 after the opening period before Higuchi turned it up. He used a single leg to near side cradle to go up 6-2 and tacked on more points to finish the match.

10:02: World No.3 Yowlys BONNE RODRIGUEZ (CUB) looked very impressive in his opening match at 57kg, earning a 10-0 technical fall over Abbos RAKHMONOV (UZB). Bonne Rodriguez used two four-point throws to cruise to victory.
