Brandon SLAY ?? scored one of the biggest upsets in Olympic history after stunning eventual three-time Olympic gold medalist and six-time world champion, Buvaisar SAITIEV ??, 4-3, en route to the 76kg gold medal at the ’00 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.

Coming into the ’00 Olympic Games, Saitiev was arguably the best freestyle wrestler in the world. He was the defending Olympic gold medalist and a three-time world champion. Saitiev entered the Sydney Games riding a perfect 19-0 combined record in world championship and Olympic action.

IOC approves Individual Neutral Athletes for 2024 Paris Olympics

CORSIER-SUR-VEVEY, Switzerland (December 8) — The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee has approved Individual Neutral Athletes (AINs) to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Individual Neutral Athletes, qualified through the existing qualification systems of the International Federations on the field of play, are athletes with a Russian or Belarusian passport. The strict eligibility conditions based on the recommendations issued by the IOC EB on 28 March 2023 for International Federations and international sports event organisers will be applied.
