Daniyar KAISANOV (KAZ) originally placed 5th at 2019 World Championships to secure Kazakhstan's place at Tokyo Olympics, but was upgraded to bronze in February 2020 after Zelimkhan KHADJIEV (FRA) tested positive for doping. Khadiev had won third-place match 4-3 when Kaisanov was awarded late stepout instead of takedown...5 days after receiving news, successfully defended title at Asian Championships in New Delhi---a gold that fulfilled Kazakh federation criteria to clinch Olympic berth for himself....Beat local favorite Jitender JITENDER (IND) in final, a month after beating him at Matteo Pellicone tournament en route to bronze...Defeated Kojiro SHIGA (JPN) in 2019 Asian final....This year, finished 3rd at both Matteo Pellicone and Poland Open, losing in quarterfinals to Frank CHAMIZO (ITA) and Jordan BURROUGHS (USA)...2018 Asian Games silver medalist behind Bekzod ABDURAKHMONOV (UZB), lost 3-2 in final.
