Sunan is a bronze medalist at Rio 2016 Olympics...Placed 5th at 2019 World Championships to earn spot at Tokyo Olympics. Scored stunning 13-12 quarterfinal victory over Yuki IRIE (JPN), but lost 6-4 in semifinals to eventual champion Mariya STADNIK (AZE) and bronze-medal match to Ekaterina POLESHCHUK (RUS)...Victory over Irie avenged loss in final at Asian Championships 5 months earlier...Won lone world title in 2013 in 3rd trip to World Championships, defeating Sumiya ERDENECHIMEG (MGL) in final. Was silver medalist in 2012....Had fierce rivalry with Eri TOSAKA (JPN).
