Islamova Brik won a bronze medal at 2019 World Championships to secure ticket to Tokyo Olympics. In semifinals, lost 6-6 to Alina VUC (ROM) after squadering 6-0 lead in second period, but came back to defeat Oksana LIVACH (UKR) by fall for bronze...After winning bronze medals at both the 2019 and 2020 Asian Championships, took gold in 2021 in absence of Japan and China. Posted three falls before routing Jasmina IMMAEVA (UZB) 10-0 in final...Lost to Livach 12-10 in wild quarterfinal of Poland Open in June 2021, but took bronze with 4-0 victory over Nadezhda SOKOLOVA (RUS)...Competed for Russia until 2016. Placed 3rd at European Games in 2015. Titles as Russian include Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix and Golden Grand Prix in 2015 and German Grand Prix in 2016..In first appearance for Kazakhstan, finished 13th at 2018 World Championships.
