OSLO, Norway (October 18) -- Greco-Roman had the most Tokyo Olympic medalists entered for the World Championships but only one gold medalist -- Mohammadreza GERAEI (IRI). He was primed to win the gold in Oslo at 67kg. And he did so in dramatic fashion, coming from behind most times. Roman VLASOV (RWF) also claimed a world title, his first since 2015 which also gave RWF the team title. Iran had four gold medalists and came second in the team title race. Moldova had it's first-ever Greco-Roman world champion as Victor CIOBANU (MDA) claimed the gold at 60kg. Watch all the 10 finals from Oslo

UWW 2023 Greco-Roman Wrestler of the Year Nominees

CORSIER-SUR-VEVEY, Switzerland (December 11) — United World Wrestling has announced the five nominations for the 2023 Greco-Roman Wrestler of the Year, awarded to the best Greco-Roman wrestler of the year.

The nominations reflect the results from this year’s World Championships, Continental Championships, Continental Games and Ranking Series events.

The five finalists are:

- XIX Pan-American Games champion
- Zagreb Open Ranking Series bronze medalist
- Kyrgyzstan Ranking Series bronze medalist

Amin MIRZAZADEH (IRI)
- 130kg world champion
- Asian Championships gold medalist
- 19th Asian Games champion
- Kyrgyzstan Ranking Series champion
- Ranked No.1 in the world with 76,000 points

Akzhol MAKHMUDOV (KGZ)
- 77kg world champion
- Asian Championships gold medalist
- 19th Asian Games champion
- Ranked No.1 in the world with 65,000 points  

Zholaman SHARSHENBEKOV (KGZ)
- 60kg world champion
- Asian Championships gold medalist
